Some lice

I was asked to take some photos of lice for the Swedish Taxonomy Initiative, so here they are:

I didn’t really get the camera to work as well as I would have liked, and must get Ale to show me again, but they’re reasonably good, right?

The upper one is a Degeeriella nisus, taken from a Sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus, and the lower a Philopterus erythrini, taken from an Eurasian Rosefinch Carpodacus erythrinus. The taxonomy of Philopterus is not at all clear, and the genus has tentatively been split by Mey (2004), however he did not address all species in the genus, and there is no complete revision. It’s a suitable next project after I’m finished with Brueelia, though!
